Is Unstoppable Wallet safe to connect?

Worst case: Your keys live only on your phone, so a stolen seed phrase or a fake build means everything in the wallet can be taken. A swap through a centralized provider leaves your coins with that provider until it pays out or refunds.

Safe setup in 3 steps

Install from the App Store (id1447619907), Google Play or F-Droid (io.horizontalsystems.bankwallet), or the horizontalsystems GitHub releases. Ignore Telegram and X accounts other than @unstoppablebyhs.
Back up the 12/24-word phrase on paper offline. Never screenshot it, which the FAQ itself warns against.
Before swapping ZEC or XMR, check which provider the quote uses. Prefer on-chain/DEX routes, and test a small amount first with any provider that takes custody of your deposit.

What it can do with your money

Who holds the keys	You hold the keys Non-custodial. Keys are generated on the device and kept in iOS/Android secure storage. Backup is a 12- or 24-word phrase, which you must back up before receiving. The team cannot recover lost keys. source
Can funds be sent out to any address?	Yes. Self-custody sends to any address. source
Swaps and third parties	Swaps route through many third-party providers, not only DEXes. Release 0.49.0 added Zcash shielded swaps via Exolix (an instant exchange that takes your deposit, per Cake Wallet's provider list) plus Barter, CCE.Cash, Pegasus Swap and Circle Swap. Release 0.50.0 added LI.FI, Jupiter, Stellar providers, Bitania and Lizex. When a provider takes custody of your deposit, it holds the funds until it pays out, under its own rules. The FAQ still says swaps are DEX-only and non-custodial, which is out of date. source

Deadlines

2026-11-05: Zcash NU7 activates at mainnet block 3,543,405 (2026-11-05 is an estimate). Version 4 transactions become invalid and ZEC left in the Sprout pool becomes unspendable. Per ZIP 2003, zcashd was the only maintained software with Sprout wallet functionality, so this wallet can't rescue Sprout funds. Update the app before activation. source
