Is DEXTools safe to connect?
Web trading terminal · Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, TRON, Many more chains (per DEXTools' 2024 recap), DEXT token (Ethereum and BNB Chain). Checked 2026-10-27; every line links its source.
Worst case: If you connect your wallet to a fake DEXTools site or a malicious pop-up and sign an approval or transaction, a drainer can take every token that approval covers. DEXTools never holds your coins and says it never asks for permissions on its own, so any surprise approval request is a red flag.
Safe setup in 3 steps
- Open DEXTools only by typing dextools.io or from your own bookmark, as DEXTools' scam guide advises; never from search results, ads or DMs offering support or exclusive access
- Never sign a wallet request you don't understand, and cancel any approval or 'connect' pop-up you didn't start; DEXTools says it does not automatically request permissions
- Check and revoke unused or suspicious token approvals regularly, and never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone, as DEXTools' scam guide says
What it can do with your money
| Who holds the keys | You hold the keys DEXTools does not hold your coins. You connect your own wallet and send swaps from it: 'you just need to connect your wallet to the DEXTools App and you can begin sending transactions from our interface' (co-founder, 0x interview). Swaps go through outside aggregators (0x; later OKX and KyberSwap for DEXTswap), so any token approval you sign goes to those contracts. DEXTools says it 'does not automatically request any permissions' (DEXTools on X, quoted by The Block). source source source |

| Can funds be sent out to any address? | Not applicable: your funds stay in the wallet you connect, and you send them from that wallet. DEXTools has no balance of yours to withdraw. source |

| 2022-05-13 | Malicious ad pop-ups on DEXTools, Etherscan and CoinGecko asked visitors to 'Connect with MetaMask' and sent them to a drainer site (nftapes.win). The code came through the Coinzilla ad network, not a breach of DEXTools | DEXTools disabled all ads, warned users not to sign suspicious wallet requests, and said it 'does not automatically request any permissions'. Coinzilla said the code ran for about an hour. No losses were reported for DEXTools users. | source |
