| Live vs paper | backtest, paper and live (self-hosted). v0.1.17 (Oct 21, 2026) adds daily paper trading with saved accounts that fill against completed daily bars and never reach a broker. Most of its 19 broker connectors also place orders on the broker's own paper account; bounded live orders are wired for Alpaca, Binance, OKX, Futu, Tiger, eToro, MetaTrader 5 and Robinhood (Robinhood is live-only). Paper vs live is a per-broker runtime check (account id, host, demo flag), not a setting the agent can flip, and brokers without such a signal are capped at paper and read-only. |
| Order approval / safety | open-source (MIT) Python trading agent from the Data Intelligence Lab at HKU (GitHub org HKUDS), with CLI, Web UI and an MCP server. Live orders need a mandate you commit (symbols, order size, exposure, leverage, daily cap) and run inside it with no per-order human confirmation; there is a kill switch (/halt) that cancels and flattens, mandate auto-expiry and an append-only audit ledger. IBKR, Scalable Capital, Trading 212 and Toss Securities connectors are read-only. It holds no funds: the broker holds the money and executes. 36,701 GitHub stars on Oct 26, 2026. The maker warns that the X account VibeTrading_HKU and any Vibe-Trading token or memecoin are not official; it has never launched a token. |

Change log
- 2026-10-26 · Added. MIT-licensed AI trading agent (36,701 GitHub stars on Oct 26, 2026). v0.1.17 (Oct 21) added daily paper trading; v0.1.18 (Oct 21) is a same-day follow-up. Live orders run only inside a mandate you commit, with a kill switch; no per-order confirmation. Withdrawal permissions were not in the docs we checked, so that safety input is missing.
