Safety score
| Input | From our listing | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Can it place live orders unattended? | A trading agent with allow_trading=True submits orders through the strategy order pipeline. The agent docs do not describe a human confirmation step before those orders. Research agents can be created with allow_trading=False source | 0 / 25 |
| Order approval or confirmation options | No approval or limit option in our listing | 0 / 15 |
| Paper, demo or testnet mode | Backtest, paper and live are different runners. Alpaca, Tradier, Interactive Brokers and Tradovate have paper or demo accounts, and CCXT can use sandbox mode where the exchange has a testnet (official docs) source | 15 / 15 |
| Withdrawal permission needed or allowed | Missing: our listing doesn't say | — / 15 |
| Scoped keys, permission scopes or IP whitelisting | Agents can be created with allow_trading=False, which removes order submit/modify/cancel tools (agent-level, not broker key scope) (official docs) source | 10 / 10 |
| Open source or audited | Open source | 10 / 10 |
| Sourced and verified facts | Facts from the vendor's official docs | 10 / 10 |

| Live vs paper | backtest, paper and live (self-hosted); the strategy class can stay the same, but startup code must call Strategy.backtest() for history or run_live()/Trader.run_all() for a broker. Alpaca paper is PAPER true or ALPACA_IS_PAPER, and the CLI has lumibot run --paper. Alpaca, Tradier, Interactive Brokers and Tradovate document paper or demo accounts; CCXT can use sandbox true where the exchange has a testnet. Setting IS_BACKTESTING=false does not by itself turn a backtest-only file into broker trading. |
| Order approval / safety | open-source (GPL-3.0) Python framework. AI strategies can set research agents to allow_trading=False and let one agent with allow_trading=True submit orders through the same order pipeline as a Python strategy. No per-order human confirmation is documented in the library. Named brokers: Alpaca, Interactive Brokers, Tradier, Charles Schwab, Tradovate, TopstepX via ProjectX, Bitunix and Polymarket, plus crypto exchanges through CCXT (the broker page says nine direct integrations, and the installed CCXT version lists 100+ exchange ids; the agent docs say LumiBot does not claim every CCXT exchange). 2,164 GitHub stars on Oct 24, 2026. Change log
- 2026-10-25 · Added. GPL-3.0 on the default branch (dev), 2,164 GitHub stars on Oct 24, 2026. The strategy class can backtest, then paper or live trade, but the runner has to select which. Research agents can use allow_trading=False; one agent can submit orders, and no per-order confirmation step is documented in the library. Withdrawal permission and API key scoping were not in the docs we checked, so those safety inputs are missing.

- 2026-10-25 New listing New listing: LumiBot, Lumiwealth's open-source Python trading framework (GPL-3.0, 2,164 GitHub stars on Oct 24, 2026). The same strategy class can backtest, then paper or live trade through Alpaca, Interactive Brokers, Tradier, Schwab and other named brokers, or crypto exchanges via CCXT. AI strategies can keep research agents off orders (allow_trading=False) while one agent submits orders; no per-order confirmation step is documented in the library. Free skills for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor are in lumibot-trading-skills (MIT). Withdrawal permission and API key scoping are not stated in the docs we checked, so those safety inputs stay missing. Source
