Is NEAR Intents safe to connect?
Swap service ยท Cross-chain intents/1Click swaps (35+ chains incl. Zcash shielded via Zodl). Checked 2026-10-24; every line links its source.
Worst case: Once you send funds into a NEAR Intents swap (directly or through a wallet like Zodl), a compliance flag can hold them indefinitely with no stated deadline, as a user reported for ~589k USDT, and the wallet app cannot release them.
Safe setup in 3 steps
- Set a refund address you control and split large swaps into smaller test-sized amounts
- Keep records of where your funds came from in case a compliance review asks
- Use near.com or a wallet's built-in integration rather than links from DMs, and read near.com/terms before large swaps
What it can do with your money
| Who holds the keys | The service holds the keys Your wallet stays yours, but when swapping via 1Click (e.g. from Zodl) you send funds to a NEAR Intents deposit address and they sit in the intents system until a market maker fills or a refund is sent; the terms say platform 'Balances' are 'not client money'. source |

| Can funds be sent out to any address? | Not applicable (swap flow); refunds go to the refund address you set, subject to compliance review. source |
| Can it hold or freeze your funds? | near.com Terms (Intents Technology Ltd, updated 2026-10-07): transactions are subject to screening, sanctions and other compliance controls by the company, its providers or underlying bridges; a transaction may be 'delayed, blocked, or rejected' and assets 'restricted or unavailable for a period or indefinitely', for 'as long as those grounds remain'; no duty to notify or give reasons; refunds can be subject to 'compliance review and/or blocking or restriction'; no guarantee a refund will be available or timely. Recovery help for user errors isn't considered under USD 300 and 'generally aims' to finish within 14 days after approval. Screening reportedly uses third-party providers (Binance AML, TRM Labs, AMLBot, PureFi) per Crypto Economy. source |
| Monero and Zcash | ZEC: swap supported, including into/out of Zodl's shielded pool (Zodl deposits ZEC to a fresh shielded address) Shielded ZEC withdrawals: yes Regions: Not offered to sanctioned persons/jurisdictions; company may restrict any jurisdiction source |
