Is BasedBot safe to connect?
Telegram trading bot ยท Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Solana, Arbitrum, Avalanche, HyperEVM, Monad, and 8 other networks (16 total). Checked 2026-10-25; every line links its source.
Worst case: BasedBot trades from hot wallets it can sign for, and you control them through Telegram. If your Telegram account or the wallet's private key is compromised, or BasedBot's systems are breached, everything in those wallets can be withdrawn to any address.
Safe setup in 3 steps
- Start the bot only from the links on basedbot.app or docs.basedbot.app (trading bot @based_eth_bot); the team says it never DMs first and never asks for your private key
- Create a fresh wallet in the bot rather than importing your main wallet's private key, and keep only trading funds in it
- Turn on Telegram 2-step verification and withdraw profits regularly to a wallet that never touches the bot
What it can do with your money
| Who holds the keys | Not documented The bot can create a wallet for you or import one from a private key. Its docs say only you can see the key, that it is linked to your Telegram account and not stored in the clear, and that the database holds a 'Hashed Private Key'. The bot still signs trades and automations for you, and the docs don't explain how it does that. source source |
