Best broker for AI agents (2026)
Short answer: there is no single best broker. Pick by how much control you want over orders. If you want a human to approve every order, look at Interactive Brokers or Webull. If you want to test an agent end to end without real money, start with Alpaca's paper account. If you want the agent to execute with a guardrail inside the chat, tastytrade's dry-run confirmation tokens are the strictest we have seen.
Pick by need
Human approves every order outside the AI
- Interactive Brokers AI Integration (MCP): the AI drafts instructions; you convert each one into an order on an IBKR platform (setup)
- Webull Cloud MCP Server: order tools only create instructions that you confirm in the Webull app or desktop
Confirmation step inside the AI flow
- tastytrade MCP Server: order submit/edit needs a single-use token from a dry-run tool, valid 60 seconds
- TradeStation MCP: explicit confirmation required before orders
- Axi MCP (MT5): each trade action needs approval in chat unless you set it to Always allow (alpha)
- Public Hosted MCP Server: preflight details shown before you confirm; orders are real money
Paper or demo trading to test agents
- Alpaca MCP Server: ALPACA_PAPER_TRADE defaults to paper (V1 vs V2)
- Tradier MCP Server: PAPER_TRADING flag with your paper token; works on the free Lite plan
- tastytrade MCP Server: separate sandbox environment
- NinjaTrader MCP (beta): separate Demo and Live endpoints
Direct execution (agent can submit orders)
- moomoo MCP: submit and cancel orders once you grant the trade:write scope (vs Webull)
- Robinhood Trading MCP: trades from a dedicated MCP account; trade-approvals toggle
- Longbridge MCP: place/modify/cancel tools; vendor advises starting read-only
Markets outside the US
- Interactive Brokers AI Integration (MCP): global multi-asset account access
- moomoo MCP: HK, US, CN, SG, JP and MY markets via OpenAPI
- Longbridge MCP: quotes, options and warrants
- Axi MCP (MT5): Axi MT5 account instruments
