How to connect Claude (and other AI apps) to the Public hosted MCP server

✓ Written from official docs · checked 2026-10-16

Public hosts its MCP server at https://mcp.public.com/mcp with OAuth sign-in. These steps come from Public's Claude & Claude Code guide and hosted MCP overview.

Claude on web and desktop

  1. Settings → Connectors → + → Add custom connector, and name it.
  2. Paste https://mcp.public.com/mcp into the Remote MCP server URL field and click Add.
  3. Click Connect and complete the authorization flow in your browser.

On Claude iOS, do the same under Settings → Connectors.

Claude Code

  1. In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Connectors, find Public, click Add and sign in.
  2. Run claude in a terminal, signed in to the same Claude account.
  3. Type /mcp and select Public. If it shows as not authenticated, choose Connect.
  4. Verify: ask Claude Code to list your Public accounts.

Other documented clients

Public also documents ChatGPT and Codex, Meta Muse (API key), Perplexity (built-in connector) and Grok (custom connector or Agent Skill). See the overview.
