# Is StealthEX safe to connect?

**Worst case:** If StealthEX flags your deposit, the coins sit at its address under a compliance review with no stated end; its terms allow them to be withheld or handed to authorities, and users report waits of months.

## Safe setup in 3 steps

1. Test with a small amount first and only swap funds whose origin you can document

2. Use stealthex.io or the Google Play app from developer StealthEX (site stealthex.io), and save the exchange ID

3. Double-check the destination address and network; failed swaps are refunded to your address minus fees

## What it can do with your money

| Can it hold or freeze your funds? | StealthEX Terms (updated July 2026): it may require KYC or source-of-funds information 'at any time, including before, during, or after execution of a transaction' (2.2). A flagged transaction can be placed under compliance review, during which assets are not exchanged or released until the review is completed (4.4). It lists a 'Compliance Hold Risk': transactions may be 'delayed, withheld, refunded, or (where legally required) transferred to a competent authority'. It may cancel or withhold transactions deemed abnormal or suspicious (14.8). Failed swaps are refunded to the address you provided minus service, network and third-party fees (6.4). PEPs may not use the service. The AML policy (March 2024) lists red flags such as over USD 32,000 in related transactions, unknown origin and mixer use. No review duration is stated.
