# Is Solflare safe to connect?

**Worst case:** Solflare is self-custody: a leaked recovery phrase or a signed malicious approval can drain the wallet, and Solflare can't reverse or recover anything.

## Safe setup in 3 steps

1. Install only from solflare.com/download: Chrome Web Store ID bhhhlbepdkbapadjdnnojkbgioiodbic, Firefox 'solflare-wallet', App Store id1580902717, Google Play com.solflare.mobile.

2. Review and revoke dapp permissions under Settings → Security and Privacy → Spending Approvals, and never type your recovery phrase into a site or 'support' chat.

3. Use a separate Solflare wallet with a small balance for bots and memecoin trading, and keep savings on a Ledger connected to Solflare.
